Wage inequality for Artists & Crafters: Being "Paid in Fun!"
When I worked in radio I would always check the jobs for DJs in warmer climates, the pay was awful but the program directors would say "Yeah, but, you get paid in sunshine!" And since there were way more announcers than jobs they got away with it. I find artists and crafters do the same thing, they feel bad for charging much because they enjoy the work. the thing is that YOU are the only one making YOUR art, that should make it more valuable.
Learn how to figure out what you should be paid.
Learn to stand by this price.
Learn how to educate your customer on the value of your work.
Learn the pitfalls of charging less: If you take less for a job than you are going to need to rush to do more work to make up for that, your quality will suffer and your work will end up being worth less. When people know you will work for less they will never pay a fair price.
