The MI-SAFE viewer (fast.openearth.eu) is a free on-line application that quantifies how vulnerable a coast is for storm-surges. This viewer is the main vehicle for accessing and demonstrating the services generated by the FAST project (the MI-SAFE package), which provide free access to data and modelling resources for the coastal area at global and local scales (see https://youtu.be/AFvkD9Svgv8 for more detailed information). FAST project is developing down-stream services for the European Earth Observation Programme Copernicus to support cost-effective, nature-based shoreline protection against flooding and erosion ( http://www.fast-space-project.eu/). The FAST team is formed by scientist from 5 European institutions (Deltares, University of Cambridge, National Institute for Marine Geology and Geo-Ecology, Royal Netherlands Institute for Sea Research and University of Cadiz). After the FAST project ends, this team will keep alive its services under a business platform named the MI-SAFE package, offering tailor-made solutions for end-users with specific needs to apply Nature-based solutions on coastal areas. Foreshore Assessment using Space Technology (FAST, 2014 - 2018) is a project funded by the European Union's (EU) Seventh Framework Programme (FP7) for research, technological development and demonstration under grant agreement number 607131.
